Ken's Korner

Our political leaders keep reassuring us that we in the west will survive this worldwide slowdown without too many problems simply because we have lots of resources that others want.  I am not so sure if I believe them.  Just a couple of weeks ago, days before our election here in Canada, the PM was saying there was no chance of Canada running a deficit.  Now he is talking about maybe selling some assets to balance the books.

Paul Beingessner

I have never been a big fan of speculation, especially the kind that drives up the price of things I need. Speculation is generally carried out by folks with more money than they need looking for a place to park it that will generate a bigger return than they can get in normal investment activities. Speculators are different from investors in one important way, though the results of their activities can often be the same.

Greenwater Report

We were almost late. We counted on a half hour to get there, and allowed ourselves an additional half hour for contingencies. As it turned out, it took us almost forty five minutes to negotiate Circle Drive from Attridge to Idylwyld. All lanes were full, and for every light up at Millar, cars would just move a car-length or two. We thought there must be an accident up ahead, but it turned out later that it was just the traffic going to the Dolly Parton concert, which was the same night. We got there just in time to check our coats and sit down at table.

Qu'Appelle Calling

He doesn't miss too many notes, but thing is, they aren't usually the RIGHT ones. To say the blend of voices is eclectic may be the politest thing that one can come up with. Usually at 5:30 am there is at least one human shouting out the window to SHUSH UP.
